ABOUT THE MEETING

The Executive Committee of the National Association of State Adoption Programs (NASAP) would like to invite State Adoption Program Managers or a representative from your state program to attend our 2008 Annual Working Meeting. The meeting will be held October 22-23, 2008 at the Holiday Inn Washington Capitol, 550 C Street SW, Washington, DC 20024. For those arriving early for the Children’s Bureau's 2008 Policy to Practice Dialogue “Child Welfare Leadership in Action,” a new member orientation for NASAP members will be held Sunday evening, October 19. A networking reception including your peers from the child welfare community will follow the new member orientation.

The theme of this year’s Annual Working Meeting is “Riding the Waves of Change” and the topical areas include: Leadership in Adoption: A Change from the Middle, Recruitment/Retention Strategies; and Understanding the Hague Intercountry Adoption Convention Rules .

We do realize the constraints which have been placed on our program budgets so we have worked to keep the cost of attending the meeting affordable and sleeping room rates meet the Federal government per diem. The NASAP Executive Committee could also assist with informally connecting managers with each other for the purposes of cost-sharing (such as hotel rooms, possible car travel, etc.).
