Consultation and Technical Assistance
The NRCA provides consultation and technical assistance to States, Tribes, territories and courts in an effort to assist in building strong child welfare adoption programs. We tailor the technical assistance we deliver based on the needs and circumstances of the particular State, Tribe or Territory.
We also use the outcome measures and systemic factors of the Children’s Bureau’s Child and Family Services Reviews to guide our assessment of how we might best assist you toward increasing your organization’s capacity in adoption. This may include our Center partnering with other members of the Children’s Bureaus’ Training and Technical Assistance Network to assist with the various components of the issue being addressed.
Areas in which we provide consultation and technical assistance include:
- Child/Youth Well-being: Trauma, Grief and Loss in Adoption
- Timely Adoption Services
- Open Adoption/Permanency Mediation
- Tribal Customary Adoption
- Adoption Competency for Child Welfare Practitioners
- Child/Youth and Family Assessment and Preparation
- Decision Making and Placement Selection
- Title IV-E Adoption Assistance Agreements
- Adoption Support and Preservation Services
- Adoption Certificate Programs for Mental Health Providers
- Multiethnic Placement Act as Amended (MEPA)
- Cultural Competence in Child Welfare
Consultation/technical assistance provided by our Center is available to States, Tribes and territories at no charge if approved by the Regional Office. The Center is available to assist States at any point in the Child and Family Services Review process. To request consultation/technical assistance
